For a young client based in Delhi, Studio Ivory created a top-notch bachelor pad in a duplex, equipped with plush furnishings and eclectic elements. The transformation of the 1500 sq. ft. space for an enthusiastic entrepreneur and generous party-host began with a clear affinity towards minimalism and delight in details. Hints of glamor, through brass trimmings and luxury-grade materials up the game, in this space meant for cheerful game-nights in. Typographical art with words ‘drink’, ‘eat’, and ‘talk’ displayed across gathering spaces in the house instantly creates connection and makes one feel at home! In keeping with the client’s lifestyle and the existing floor layout, the outdoor park-facing central lounge & dining space became the soul of the one-bedroom apartment. The double-volumed stairwell of the duplex is given a grand and impressive look with wooden battens systematically cut and arranged to form a dynamic, wave-like pattern. A classic yet lively palette of pine wood and brass, in company of suave leather-backed furniture greets one into the living area. A handpicked, sumptuous four-seater and splayed-leg sofa-chairs elegantly complement the layered false-ceiling, highlighted with a thin gold and wood edging. Sensuous curves are a significant design feature, experienced through a cascade-like brass partition, a rounded wooden wall or an arched opening. The custom-designed stainless steel partition coated in brass finish is a classic space-divider, while also allowing visual lightness and openness. Adjacently, the pine-cladded curved wall gently guides the eye into the dining area and beyond. The residence is an amalgamation of the client’s lifestyle choices responded to with beautiful design sensibilities. The floor-style seating dining table also doubles up as a cards or games table. A chandelier in the form of floating globes above the polished dining table adds a touch of sheen to the experience. The open dining and bar area flow freely into one another, embellished with a graphic-patterned wallpaper – a backdrop to the bar. Extending the gesture of warmth and hospitality forward, the custom-designed bar area is bedecked with locally made handmade ceramic tiles which were handpicked. Further inwards, through the arched opening in the curved pine-wood wall, the kitchen is a low-maintenance space for maximum efficiency and zero hassle. Clad in white, with brass fittings and a metallic blue backsplash, the kitchen echoes the coolness of the green handmade tiles from the bar area bringing a sense of cohesiveness. The bedroom is designed using modern comforts and classic details. A generous leather-like finish bed back, wooden side tables and a false ceiling with curved edges brings a fine, easygoing vibe from a time bygone. An orderly wall mounted bookshelf in a diamond pattern brings a sense of astuteness to the space, a contrast in form and character from the more playful living areas. A combination of chic modern and classic elements, furnished in impeccable materials comes together to make this bachelor pad an unforgettable slice of paradise for its single resident.
